"I am an Artist, not a machine."
Sabina, American born, now lives and creates here on the Mornington Peninsula of Victoria, Australia, as a full time artist. Being an only child to European Immigrants, Sabina's zest for life, adventure, and being one’s self, can be experienced through her art.
"I see myself as both an artist and an entrepreneur. Being an artist is much more than just creating art: it is having that motivation to work as an all-round artist. Being an artist is 'a job', like any other job. As an artist you have to really invest in yourself and wear a lot of hats for your business to grow. Being an artist you are truly your own boss, your own company. I am not just the creator; I am in charge of all aspects of my art... creation, photography, promotions, sales, logistics, and finance.
I'm very grateful that my job is to be an independent artist. People often ask me if it gets tedious to just paint all the time, not at all. My philosophy is “you have to live to create” so I am always out and about with my camera being inspired by the life around me. Which I must admit, is not a hard task at all living on the Mornington Peninsula.
I am not just an artist, but a self taught artist; this has allowed me to nurture my own independence and artistic freedom to create spontaneously from within: expressing a feeling, a memory or an impression.
My array of styles and mediums inspire each other and allow me that freedom, freedom to share my passion for texture, colour, typography, and numbers, a combination of elements from what captures my eye through the lens, my childhood and manufacturing background, to the overall coastal lifestyle which I have embraced living in Australia, one which I hope you will enjoy as you browse through my gallery."
"My Mother always encouraged me to be my own person; I share this with you through my art."
